Presanctified Liturgy
The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is a solemn, evening Lenten service in the Byzantine Rite (Orthodox and Eastern Catholic) where Holy Communion is distributed from gifts sanctified at a previous Sunday’s Divine Liturgy. It combines vespers with communion, allowing faithful to receive the Eucharist on weekdays without the festive, non-fasting nature of a full Divine Liturgy.
