Saint Panteleimon Monastery Celebrates New Life: 2 Baptisms and 5 Catechumens Received
A Day of Grace and Renewal
On May 10, 2025, the Monastery of Saint Panteleimon in Coconut Creek, FL was filled with joy and reverence as the faithful gathered to witness the reception of new souls into the life of the Orthodox Church. In the tradition of the early Church, where entire households were brought into the faith through baptism and teaching, today’s services echoed that same spirit of renewal, unity, and the ever-living presence of Christ in His Church.
Reception of Five New Catechumens
The day began with the Service for the Reception of Catechumens at 1:00 PM, during which five individuals publicly committed themselves to the Orthodox Christian path. With prayers of exorcism, the sign of the cross, and the renunciation of former errors, these new catechumens were placed under the care of the Church and entrusted to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Their reception marks the beginning of a season of preparation, instruction, and prayer leading toward Holy Baptism in due time.
Their presence is a powerful reminder that the Orthodox Faith continues to draw seekers from all backgrounds—those who long for the fullness of the Apostolic tradition, sacramental life, and communion with God.
The Baptism of Paisios and Alex (2:00 PM)
Following the catechumenate service, the faithful remained for the joyful celebration of Holy Baptism at 2:00 PM. Two men, now newly illumined as Paisios and Alex, were received into the Body of Christ through the sacred mystery of water and the Spirit.
The service, rich in ancient prayers and psalms, proclaimed their death and resurrection with Christ, their anointing with holy chrism, and their formal entrance into the Eucharistic life of the Church. The witness of their commitment was not only a blessing for them personally, but an encouragement to all who attended—reminding us of our own baptismal vows and the grace continually offered by God to those who seek Him.
Fellowship and Celebration
As is fitting in Orthodox life, the spiritual joy of the services overflowed into physical celebration. After the baptisms, all who attended were invited to remain for a shared meal and refreshments. Laughter, conversation, and warm fellowship filled the space, as faithful and newly received alike broke bread together in thanksgiving.
This celebration wasn’t just about food—it was a visible expression of what the Church truly is: a family. United in Christ, centered around the altar, and growing together in love.
The Church is Alive
Today was not just a ceremony — it was a sign of life. In an age often marked by confusion and spiritual hunger, the witness of catechumens and baptisms is a testimony that Christ is still calling hearts, and His Church continues to grow, not just in number, but in faith.
We thank God for the gift of these new brothers in Christ and for those preparing their hearts through the catechumenate. May they be strengthened by your prayers, and may our parish continue to be a place of healing, truth, and transformation.
